Authorities unite efforts through the program Adopt a School, to provide books to public elementary schools in the State, the Gregorio Torres Quintero Elementary School in Guanajuato City gets the first books

The Gregorio Torres Quintero Federal Primary School, in Guanajuato City, received 62 copies of the Beloved Books collection and six bookshelves, which will allow a permanent space to be enabled so that the students can choose stories, read them, discuss them and share them.
The delivery is part of Adopt a School, a People’s Government strategy that promotes the solidarity participation of education staff, companies, institutions and society to address specific needs of education communities.
During the event, the Secretary of Education of Guanajuato, Luis Ignacio Sanchez Gomez, emphasized that this donation marks the beginning of a movement for reading, “bringing books to schools means opening new opportunities for children. A book not only helps us read; it helps us understand, ask questions, imagine, discuss, and build new knowledge.”
The head of the SEG said that, for Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, one of the priorities of the school year, which has just begun, is that all elementary school children develop the ability, comprehension, and enjoyment of reading. Sanchez Gomez recognized the adoptive parents, companies, institutions, teachers, and families who are joining in this noble endeavor.
The 62 books were donated by Comercializadora GAB, with the effort of Adriana Rosas Vera, a member of the Strategic Communication Coordination of the SEG, who promoted the participation of businesspeople to support the adopted school and strengthen learning and the habit of reading among the education community.
This initiative was joined by the Bicentennial Polytechnic University, which designed the prototype bookshelf, CONALEP Guanajuato and the Militarized Bivalent High School, with the contribution of six shelves to give permanence and functionality to the space intended for the books.
The SEG also promotes moments of reading and togetherness in homes, through the “Let’s Read as a Family” campaign, strategies that are part of the “Read on Time” policy, aimed at developing reading skills from education communities.
Aida Araceli Jimenez Orozco, the reading advisor and star of the “Beloved Books” program, explained that the support of the Secretary of Education of Guanajuato aims to ensure that books have a permanent presence in school life and contribute to improve learning.
Aida added that the invitation remains open for companies and individuals to join Adopt a School and contribute education communities that require support to strengthen their learning spaces and experiences.
