Mexicana de Aviación’s new route began its service from AIFA to the Bajio International Airport with six weekly flights

The People’s Government strengthens Guanajuato’s air connectivity with the start of operations of the new Mexicana de Aviacion route, which links the Bajio International Airport (BJX) with the Felipe Angeles International Airport (AIFA), expanding mobility options for tourists, visitors and business travelers.
The new connection began operations on July 27, 2026, and represents another step towards consolidating Guanajuato as an increasingly connected destination, better connected with the country’s main source markets for travelers.
With this flight, the People’s Government strengthens the State’s air connectivity through a new transportation alternative that will facilitate tourist, economic and commercial exchange between Guanajuato and the Metropolitan Area of the Valley of Mexico.
The route will operate with six weekly frequencies, Sundays to Fridays, offering more transportation options for users.
The operating hours are:
- AIFA → Bajío
- Sunday: 4:50 p.m. – 5:50 p.m.
- Monday to Friday: 06:20 – 07:20 hours
- Bajio → AIFA
- Sunday: 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
- Monday to Friday: 08:00 – 09:00 hours
The opening of this new route is part of the actions promoted by the People’s Government to strengthen air connectivity in Guanajuato, facilitating access for national and international visitors to the State’s tourist, cultural, gastronomic, business, and meeting destinations. Tickets are now available through Mexicana de Aviacion’s official channels.
The Guanajuato International Airport strengthens its connectivity network by having 24 routes in operation: 12 national and 12 international (two more will be added (Vancouver and Madrid), connecting the State with strategic destinations in Mexico, the United States and Canada, which consolidates the airport as one of the main gateways to the center of the country.
During 2025, the Guanajuato International Airport handled 3.3 million passengers, a figure that represented a growth of 4 percent compared to the previous year.
Currently, the airport maintains domestic connections with:
- Tijuana, Monterrey, Mexico City, Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, Ciudad Juarez, State of Mexico, San Jose del Cabo, Merida, Mexicali, Puebla and now AIFA
Internationally it connects with:
- Houston, Dallas, Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Antonio, San Jose, Oakland, Sacramento, Fresno and Ontario, in addition to the upcoming flight to Vancouver.
