“The International Cervantino Festival was born in Guanajuato, so we are filled with pride that 1,400 Guanajuatense artists will show their talent to the world at ‘The Festival of the Spirit’”, said Governor Libia Dennise García Muñoz Ledo.

Libia presented the program “Connecting with the People” to discuss the activities of the Children’s Voices Choir of the Iconographic Museum of Quixote, and the Guanajuatense artists who will be at the International Cervantino Festival, who are part of the 2,746 artists that make up this year’s great lineup.

The broadcast featured Lizeth Galvan Cortes, Secretary of Culture; Onofre Sanchez Menchero, Director of the Quixote Iconographic Museum; and Cristina Cendejas Parrales, Director of the Children’s Voices Choir of the Quixote Iconographic Museum.

The Secretary of Culture of the State highlighted that Guanajuato, in addition to being the birthplace of the International Cervantino Festival, is one of the main protagonists thanks to the talent of its artists and creators.

“We generate more opportunities for artists in the State to create, develop, and showcase their work to national and international audiences. Therefore, the program reflects the strength of Guanajuato’s cultural ecosystem, with 18 projects promoted by the Secretary of Culture, 3 projects from the University of Guanajuato, as well as independent artists, companies, and cultural institutions present on the festival’s main stages,” said Galvan Torres.

The Governor said that the Quixote Iconographic Museum is a unique space, incomparable to other museums; “if you don’t know it, you have to visit it in the center of the beautiful city of Guanajuato, it is the museum that has the largest collection inspired by Don Quixote of La Mancha in the whole world.”

Libia recalled that it was founded in 1987 with the collection of a great businessman and human being: Don Eulalio Ferrer Rodriguez who donated to the State of Guanajuato an extraordinary collection of works inspired by Don Quixote.

Among the major projects of this Iconographic Museum is the Children’s Voices Choir, which aims to generate artistic talent, said the Governor.

Onofre Sanchez said that this museum was created as a tribute to the legacy of Cervantes, who also represents a symbol of hope, and this site is the largest of its kind on the theme of Cervantes in the world.

The Children’s Voices project of the Quixote Iconographic Museum, which was born in August 2024, is to stimulate among girls and boys the taste for literature, music and art through musical training and choral singing.

Cristina Cendejas Parrales is the Director of Children’s Voices. She began her formal studies at the Higher Institute of Sacred Music in Morelia and continued them professionally at the Popular Faculty of Fine Arts.

The Secretary of Culture said that the Musical Winds project is a strategy that promotes musical training for children and young people. This year at the FIC (International Cervantino Festival), the Musical Winds Youth Symphony Orchestra and the Comonfort Choir of Musical Winds for the People will share the stage with Denise Gutierrez.

The Governor highlighted the Ruelas Project, which is one of the most important legacies of the FIC, recovering the spirit with which the festival was born, to make culture a meeting place for people.

This edition includes 4 community theater projects, made up of groups from San Francisco del Rincón, San Luis de la Paz, San Miguel de Allende and the Guanajuato State Center for Prevention and Social Reintegration (CEPRESO).
