Tu Puedes finances farmers of Guanajuato

The Financier Tu Puedes Guanajuato has turned into a key piece for the agricultural development of the center of Mexico

In an effort to provide accessible financial tools to producers in the region’s primary sector, staff from Financiera y Apoyos Tu Puedes Guanajuato met with members and representatives of the agricultural sector in this municipality, where they detailed the credit options designed to mitigate the impact of production costs.

Ivon Padilla Hernandez, head of the People’s Finance Corporation, explained at this meeting with ejido leaders, farmers and ranchers from Tarandacuao and surrounding municipalities that, being a government that listens to the citizens, their needs were taken into account.

“The State Government, led by Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, designs and creates public policies and programs to benefit the farmers of Guanajuato, understanding that the farming sector is the engine of our economy and that producers need financial certainty to make their work profitable,” said Padilla Hernandez.

The Official noted that, given the volatility of the markets and current climate demands, the attendees agreed on the urgency of having capital injected in a timely manner for the acquisition of supplies, machinery and irrigation technology.

And with the “Progresa” Financing, the primary sector of Guanajuato can access a loan of up to 1.5 million pesos to be paid in 12 months in a single amortization, with a preferential interest rate of 12 percent per year on outstanding balances.

Padilla reported that in 2025 alone, Tu Puedes Guanajuato granted 33 loans to farmers totaling over 8.6 million pesos and helped preserve 128 jobs. So far in 2026, they have granted 31 loans, with an investment exceeding 13.3 million pesos and 93 jobs secured.

“We cannot expect the agricultural sector to compete and produce without providing it with the necessary tools. These loans are not an expense; they are a strategic investment by the State government to enable farming families to modernize their operations and ensure the profitability of their harvests. With the “Progresa” loan program, we are directly addressing the needs of the agricultural sector, guaranteeing real resources that will help them thrive,” said Padilla.

“Well, it was great, we liked it a lot because it has a very low interest rate. We used it for fertilizers and for corn, and it has benefited us quite a bit because this season resources were very scarce and prices were very cheap; we needed the financing, and it came at just the right time,” said Luis Fernando Estrada Diaz, a farmer from the municipality of Acambaro.
