The Secretary of Health of Guanajuato is prepared in terms of epidemiological surveillance, prior to the start of the 2026 World Cup, to detect and provide immediate care to emerging and re-emerging diseases such as Ebola.
The Secretary of Health of Guanajuato, Gabriel Cortes Alcala, pointed out that Guanajuato is a national leader in epidemiological surveillance, so monitoring protocols, targeted search and rapid response remain active in the face of any health eventuality that could occur with the arrival of national and international visitors.
Cortes emphasized that Guanajuato has sufficient hospital infrastructure, trained personnel, and the ability to respond to any suspected case that may arise, guaranteeing the protection of the health of the population and those who visit the State during this important international event.
The Secretary explained that health screenings are carried out at international airports to identify people with fever or symptoms associated with communicable diseases, actions that are even implemented from the countries of origin of the travelers, as part of the international health surveillance protocols.
The Secretary of Health of Guanajuato reiterated that currently no risk related to Ebola has been detected in the State nor in Mexico, and although it is a serious disease, its level of contagion is low and requires direct contact with bodily fluids such as saliva, urine or feces.
Therefore, in addition to maintaining epidemiological surveillance, efforts are underway to strengthen actions promoting hygiene and prevention actions among Guanajuatenses.
