The Secretary of Tourism and Identity of Guanajuato is participating in the 2026 edition of Adventure Travel Mexico (ATMEX) 2026, considered the main business and strategic linking platform for the adventure and nature tourism industry in Latin America.

The Guanajuato delegation went to Mexico City to promote the State’s participation and at the same time, a “Destination” presentation was given, highlighting our identity and history, which are part of the seven tourist regions that make up our State, where adventure is a main attraction for our visitors.

The 2026 edition of ATMEX is held from May 21 to 23 in Mexico City and brings together national and international buyers, tour operators, specialized media, destinations and strategic partners of the sector, in order to promote the development of adventure tourism through commercial alliances, promotion of experiences and professionalization of the industry.

Guanajuato’s participation in ATMEX reaffirms the State’s interest in consolidating itself as a competitive destination within the nature and adventure segment, promoting experiences related to:
- Hiking, cycling, horseback riding, rappelling, ATV riding and outdoor activities that strengthen the tourism diversification of Guanajuato

Over its 15 editions, ATMEX has generated more than 23,000 business appointments, alliances with an estimated value exceeding 4.5 billion pesos, and the participation of more than 14,000 specialized actors in the tourism sector.
Guanajuato has a significant history with this international event. In 2022, the State hosted the tenth anniversary of ATMEX in Guanajuato City, where 400 attendees, 20 international speakers, and more than 1,300 formal business meetings took place, generating an economic impact of over 5.8 million pesos.

In the 2025 edition held in Oaxaca, Guanajuato participated by promoting its adventure and nature tourism offer, strengthening strategic alliances and positioning its tourism products with buyers and specialized media.
According to data from the Secretary of Tourism and Identity of Guanajuato, during 2025 the adventure and nature segment represented 10.94 percent of the reasons to travel to Guanajuato, with more than 2.6 million visitors interested in activities linked to natural contact and outdoor experiences.
The 2026 edition of ATMEX takes on special relevance as it takes place in the lead-up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, allowing participating destinations to position complementary tourism experiences for national and international visitors arriving in the country during this global event.
