For the Secretary of Health of Guanajuato, older adults are a priority and work is being done on a close, preventive and continuous care model that responds to their real needs and promotes their integral well-being.
The Secretary of Health of Guanajuato indicated that older adults represent the fabric that unites generations, which is why actions focused on their care have been intensified and as part of this strategy, 577,715 screenings were carried out for the timely detection of health risks related to age.
These actions allow for the early identification of conditions that may affect their quality of life, facilitating timely interventions and appropriate follow-up in each case.
Furthermore, aging is promoted as an active and healthy stage; to strengthen specialized care, 616 health professionals were trained in gerontology, promoting the autonomy of older people in their basic activities.
In terms of medical care, services were provided to 58,681 people over 60 years of age, of which 39,672 were women and 19,009 were men.
During this period, 894,411 consultations were provided, in addition to 87,207 emergency care visits and 27,635 hospital discharges, guaranteeing timely care at the different levels of the health system.
In parallel, attention to cardiometabolic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia and obesity was strengthened, conditions that represent the main health challenges in this population group.
Cortes Alcal said that in the People’s Government, older adults receive attention, follow-up, and dignity every day, consolidating a health system that recognizes their value and contribution to society.
