As part of the work tour in Japan led by the Secretary of Economy and in collaboration with the Secretary of Agriculture and the Coordinator for the Promotion of Foreign Trade (COFOCE), Guanajuato consolidated its international presence with participation in FOODEX Japan 2026, the most important agro-food fair in Asia, where 8 companies with the Marca Guanajuato emblem represented the quality, innovation and competitiveness of the State.

With the vision of the People’s Governor, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, an economic development strategy is being promoted that responds to the needs of the productive sector, aimed at ensuring that the opening of new international markets translates into more opportunities, growth and prosperity for Guanajuatense families.

During this trade mission, Guanajuato presented a diversified export offer, which included a range of food products with high nutritional content, managing to position itself in one of the most demanding markets in the world, generating potential business opportunities and strengthening the global projection of the agro-food sector.
The participating companies, Serramia, Cornerstone, Artisalis, Nopalzin, Mole La California, Huerta La Escondida, Productores de Guanajuato and Ukiyo, brought products with high added value, aligned with international trends such as functional foods, freeze-dried products, natural ingredients and ready-to-eat solutions.

During the four days of activities, 479 business interactions were recorded and 141 relevant business contacts were generated with buyers from countries such as Japan, the United States, Canada, South Korea, Taiwan and China, which represents a solid foundation for the development of exports in the short and medium term.

In addition, business meetings were held with importers, distributors, retail chains and food service companies.
One of the main results was the identification of opportunities in high-value channels such as international retail, institutional supply and specialized distribution, as well as the interest in developing private label schemes and direct supply with producers.

Guanajuato’s participation also allowed for the identification of key trends in the Asian market, highlighting the demand for healthy foods, practical products, innovative presentations, and gourmet products with cultural identity, which opens up new areas of opportunity for companies in Guanajuato.
This mission is part of a comprehensive strategy by the People’s Government to position Guanajuato as a reliable supplier in global markets.

In parallel, the tour included a strategic agenda to attract investment in cities such as Tokyo, Osaka, and Kumamoto, where ties were strengthened with global companies, financial institutions, and the Mexican Embassy in Japan.
As a result, projects in strategic sectors such as advanced manufacturing, electronics and semiconductors were consolidated and monitored, with significant progress in companies such as Yokowo, Yusei Mold and Samtech, as well as the opening of new opportunities with Japan Electronic Materials.
