“We inaugurate one of the most innovative, sustainable, inclusive, and responsible plants in Mexico and the world. In Guanajuato, we are deeply proud because this reaffirms the trust in Celaya and Guanajuato,” said the Governor of the People, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo.

Libia Dennise was at the inauguration of the new PepsiCo plant in Celaya, a strategic project that consolidates Guanajuato as a hub of industrial development.

The plant, which is part of PepsiCo’s $2 billion investment plan in Mexico, represents an investment of $467 million and is the first that the company has built from scratch in Mexico in more than 20 years.

The Governor emphasized that Guanajuato accounts for 24% of this national investment, reflecting the favorable conditions for economic growth: “This translates into well-paid jobs, development for our communities, and families that can go on.”

The Governor also highlighted the company’s social focus, “I am pleased that there is a commitment to inclusion: women, older adults and people with disabilities are part of this great workforce that drives development.”

Altagracia Gomez Sierra, Coordinator of the Advisory Council for Regional Economic Development and Relocation of the Government of Mexico, highlighted that this investment responds to the vision of growth with added value.

“We want a country that grows with innovation, inclusion and sustainability, and today we see that PepsiCo is making it a reality from Celaya, betting on technology, talent and local consumption,” said Gomez Sierra.

Jose Medina Mora Icaza, President of the Business Coordinating Council of Mexico, emphasized the role of human talent in the success of companies.

“Companies are not buildings, they are people. And today we see how Mexican talent brings to life products with quality and warmth that make us proud,” he said.

Athina Kanioura, President and CEO of PepsiCo Latin America, noted that this plant marks a new stage for the company in the region. She also emphasized that Mexico is a key component of the company’s global strategy.

“Mexican talent is one of our greatest strengths and a competitive advantage for all of Latin America,” highlighted the CEO of PepsiCo in Latin America.

Guanajuato’s Secretary of Economy, Cristina Villasenor, emphasized that this announcement is part of a positive trend confirming that Guanajuato is moving forward on the right track. She reported that, so far in the current administration, 46.5% of the six-year goal has been achieved, with 49 projects representing an investment of $3.72598 billion and more than 11,600 jobs committed.

“Guanajuato is a competitive State, a reliable State, and it is ready to continue growing,” the Secretary said.

The new plant will create 210 direct jobs and more than 800 indirect jobs, with projected growth in the coming years. It strengthens ties with the Mexican farming producers by using national supply and consolidating value chains that benefit producers and communities.
