Institutions of the State strengthen trade alliances with visitors from the United States, Guatemala, Spain, and Costa Rica

In order to strengthen the international presence of the leather, footwear and leather goods sector of Guanajuato, the Coordinator for the Promotion of Foreign Trade (COFOCE), in collaboration with Shoes From Mexico, participated in the 94th edition of the Leather and Footwear Show (SAPICA), held from March 3 to 6 in Leon.
During this edition, approximately 15 international buyers from the United States, Guatemala, Spain, and Costa Rica were received and had the opportunity to learn first-hand about the quality, innovation, and productive capacity of Guanajuatense companies.
The participation aimed to boost the arrival of international buyers and link them directly with manufacturers in the leather, footwear and leather goods sector, generating strategic alliances that strengthen the local industry and expand its reach in international markets.
“The difference is the quality of the product, the engravings, the ease of working according to the need, the flexibility, something that doesn’t exist in other markets which for me is very important, and the great range of styles in an area that is not too extensive, which makes it very easy to visit different suppliers in a short time,” said Jordi Corbeto, buyer for Corberto Boots, from Spain who highlighted the quality and value offer of the products manufactured in Guanajuato.
“They are a wonderful company, thanks you so much! They were an incredible guide, very organized and very efficient. We were able to work directly with the suppliers, they translated for us, they understand the business very well, importing, raw materials, production, they got us very good appointments with suppliers, so it was a very pleasant experience,” said David Brewer of the company HOBO BAGS and an American buyer who thanked the People’s Government through COFOCE for their support in arranging meetings with Guanajuatense manufacturers.
The presence of international buyers at SAPICA represents a key opportunity for Guanajuatense companies to showcase their talent, creativity, and responsiveness to the demands of the global market.
With initiatives like this, COFOCE and the People’s Government continue to promote internationalization strategies that allow the Guanajuato leather, footwear and leather-goods sector to be positioned as a benchmark for quality, design and innovation worldwide.
SAPICA remains one of the most important platforms in Latin America for the footwear industry, bringing together international manufacturers, designers and buyers in a space that fosters growth, collaboration and development of the sector.
