With the powerful message of “dreams come true,” Donovan Carrillo captivated the audience with his performance in the short program of the Milano-Cortina 2026 figure skating competition and advanced to the grand final of the Winter Olympic Games.
The Mexican skater took to the ice at the Milano Ice Skating Arena and, to the rhythm of Hip Hip Chin Chin by Club des Belugas, achieved a score of 75.56, which allowed him to advance to the long program to compete in his second Olympic final after Beijing 2022.
After his performance in the short program, the Mexican skater managed to place himself among the top 24 skaters who will be in search of the Olympic podium next Friday, February 13, a competition that will begin at 12:00 pm Guanajuato time.
Donovan Carrillo scored below his personal best in a short program, which is 84.97 points, but he continues to make history as the best Mexican and Latin American skater at these Winter Olympic Games.
The Mexican skater showed his happiness from the moment he stepped onto the ice rink, and although he made a mistake in the triple axel, one of the most complex movements in skating, he did not lose heart and tried to finish his routine in the best way possible to earn the applause and affection of the attendees.
Donovan Carrillo qualified in 23rd position with 75.56 points: 39.71 points in technical elements and 36.85 in program components.
