Guanajuato/Gto News
A result of an extraordinary effort of the Government of Guanajuato, this is the only State from the 5 States in the Central-Bajio-West, to show a growth in the value of production of local construction companies.
By the numbers
By the end of October 2020, the growth was 4.7% compared to the same year of 2019, as it went from $1,242 million pesos to $1,299 million pesos.
Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo, the Governor of Guanajuato, said that as the production by construction companies grow, so grows the number of jobs generated by this sector. Jobs grew by 2.3%, and it went from 23,635 jobs in 2019 to 24,184 by October 2020.
Official figures
The figures presented by the Governor are figures generated by the National Institute of Geography and Statistics – INEGI- in a report issued on December 18th based on the National Poll of Construction Companies –ENEC-.
“Guanajuato is the fourth place in Mexico where there is more generated production value and fifth where more jobs were created”, said Tarcisio Rodriguez Martinez, head of the Secretary of Infrastructure, Connectivity and Mobility –SICOM-.
Better numbers than the Country
Different than what is ocurring in Guanajuato, in Mexico the construction sector decreased by 24.1% as it went from 28,736 million pesos to 21,654 million pesos, while jobs in the construction business went down from 502,895 workers to 404,985 people working in this activity.
Great results
“The numbers are the result of the activity we have done through the State Plan of Public Actions, which we elaborated and started in time to generate opportunities for Guanajuatenses”, noted Rodriguez Vallejo, who reiterated his commitment to promote the generation of jobs for families so that they are able to face the Covid 19 crisis.
