Purisima made its debut at FITUR in Madrid, Spain

Marking a milestone in its international tourism strategy, Purisima del Rincon participated for the first time in the International Tourism Trade Fair (FITUR) 2026. This debut in Madrid represents a historic step forward in projecting the municipality’s cultural and natural wealth onto the global stage.

On the opening day, Mayor Roberto Garcia Urbano, alongside Tourism Director Jose Roberto Camargo Perez, executed a strategic agenda that included high-level meetings with tour operators, international media, and key industry stakeholders. The local officials also accompanied the Governor of Guanajuato, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, during the event’s official inaugural ceremony.

Meeting the Demand for Authenticity

Throughout the first day of activities, and in close coordination with the Guanajuato State Secretary of Tourism, the delegation provided comprehensive information regarding the region’s diverse destinations. The presentation sparked significant interest among Spanish travelers, a market currently seeking authentic and immersive experiences.

The municipality’s presence at this prestigious forum is a strategic prelude to its long-term tourism development, fostering institutional ties and strengthening its brand positioning in Europe.

Key highlights promoted during the fair include:

• Jalpa de Cánovas: Celebrated as one of the world’s premier tourism villages and a designated “Magical Town”
• La Judea: Highlighted as Guanajuato’s most iconic Holy Week tradition, reflecting the deep cultural roots of the región
• Cañada de Negros: Showcased as a unique destination for tequila tourism and heritage
• Gastronomy and Heritage: A focus on the culinary richness and traditional expressions that define the municipality’s identity

This international milestone is the result of years of consistent effort. Purisima del Rincon has prioritized the professionalization of the sector, investing in the training of service providers, sustainable practices, infrastructure upgrades, and the preservation of its cultural heritage.

While the municipality has previously engaged in promotional efforts in Colombia and the United States, FITUR 2026 marks its official expansion into the European market. According to the Secretary of Tourism and Identity; Spain remains one of the most critical markets for the State of Guanajuato.
