According to the National Energy Commission (CNE), Guanajuato has registered an accumulated growth of 85% in its distributed generation capacity since 2022, remaining as the fourth State in Mexico with the greatest development in this sector.

In 2025, Guanajuato added 8.57 megawatts of installed capacity, equivalent to a 3% increase over the previous year, of which more than 99% comes from photovoltaic solar systems.

Under the leadership of Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, the People’s Government is promoting an energy vision based on sustainability, affordability, and energy justice, consolidating Guanajuato as a national benchmark in clean and accessible energy.
The head of the Secretary of Economy, Claudia Cristina Villasenor Aguilar, highlighted that clean and distributed energy allows more families and economic units to reduce their costs.

With 298.63 MW of installed capacity under this scheme, Guanajuato continues to strengthen its energy matrix, reducing its carbon footprint and ensuring that the benefits of clean energy reach more people.
Distributed generation is the production of energy near the point of consumption and it has become a strategic tool for strengthening the energy security of Guanajuato. This model reduces transmission losses, decreases pressure on the infrastructure of the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE), and helps prevent outages caused by line overloads.

In Guanajuato, its growth has accelerated thanks to the installation of photovoltaic solar systems in companies, institutions and homes, allowing more users to generate their own electricity in a clean, efficient and cost-competitive way.
In addition to reducing dependence on traditional sources, distributed generation promotes a model that combines environmental sustainability, economic stability and affordable access to energy, key elements for moving towards real energy justice.
