Labor poverty in Guanajuato decreased by 1.3% in the last quarter and by 3.3% in annual terms according to the latest report from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) corresponding to the July-September quarter of 2025.
Under the leadership of Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, Guanajuato has shown outstanding progress in reducing working poverty and strengthening the income of Guanajuatense residents.
The head of the Secretary of Economy, Claudia Cristina Villasenor Aguilar, said that this result reflects the constant commitment of the People’s Government to improve the living conditions of Guanajuatense families.
According to the results of this indicator, Guanajuato is the sixth State with the largest annual reduction at the national level for the reported period.
Guanajuato also stands out for reducing the gender pay gap to 1,277 pesos, making it the fifth State with the least inequality in labor income. The pay gap decreased by 539 pesos, an achievement that positions Guanajuato as a national leader in progress toward greater economic equality.
The sectors that registered salary improvements are:
- Restaurants and accommodation, miscellaneous services and government and international organizations with increases of 18%, 16% and 6% respectively
This reflects the resilience and diversity of the State’s economy, which opens up job opportunities for people in Guanajuato.
These results are the product of an economic policy focused on attracting targeted, sustainable and complementary investments; the State strategy also promotes the visibility and scaling up of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to integrate them into local value chains, boosting job creation and better incomes.
The path towards a Guanajuato with a greater value, inclusion and opportunities is being built in a coordinated manner by the Economic Turbine, ensuring that prosperity directly benefits society and favors a more dignified life for all Guanajuatense families.
