The Governor of the People, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, led the ceremony for the Presentation of Recognitions to the Best of Guanajuato Sports 2025, as a sign of respect and pride for the effort and discipline with which the athletes have raised high the name of Guanajuato.
“The energy in this place is incredible. You really do come in here and our batteries are filled with pure Guanajuato pride. This place is full of medalists, families, and dreams fulfilled. When we in Guanajuato put on our jerseys, the sports jersey and the jersey of our State, we are a team that nothing can stop,” said Libia Dennise.
The Governor explained that at the 2025 CONADE National Olympics, a total of 366 medalists from Guanajuato achieved 8th place. They led more than a thousand athletes from 31 municipalities who represented Guanajuato in 41 disciplines. “Those 298 medals represent 298 times they made us feel invincible. How proud we are to see them triumph!”
At the Asuncion 2025 Junior Pan American Games, athletes from Guanajuato won 13 continental medals that “cost soul and heart. You taught us that when you wear the Mexican jersey, the heart that beats inside is pure Guanajuato pride,” said Libia.
At the 2025 Parapan American Youth Games: “If there is anything that touches my soul, it is our young people at the Parapan American Games. Thank you for making the impossible possible. Eight young people who showed us that the spirit prevails over any circumstance and that there is no obstacle that cannot be overcome,” said the Governor.
“And today we present the highest honor that Guanajuato can give to an athlete, the 2025 State Sports Award. And we present it to incredible human beings”, said Libia.
“We recognize Kelly Alexandra Lopez Ponciano: Kelly, your physical strength is impressive, but your symbolic strength moves us. Seeing you lift those kilos is seeing the spirit of the women of Guanajuato: women who carry responsibilities and dreams, and who never break,” said Libia Dennise.
“Also, to Jesus Alberto Gutierrez Bermudez: Jesus, every time you jump into the water, you break down prejudices. Thank you for showing us that when the spirit is invincible, you can sail against any current,” she added.
“Besides the coaches Jose Luis Castrejon Perez and David Eduardo Sanchez Figueroa: “They have the magical gift of seeing greatness before anyone else. Thank you for being the architects of the glories we celebrate today,” said the Governor.
“And to our Women’s Field Hockey Team: Three-time champions! Winning three times requires more than talent: it requires sisterhood. Watching them play is seeing Guanajuato united,” said Libia.
“Families who are here and those who couldn’t come: this victory is also yours. You are the official sponsors of these dreams,” said the Governor, who also congratulated the coaches.
“Be an inspiration to those who come after you. And we’re going for more in 2026! Long live sports! Long live our champions! And long live Guanajuato! Congratulations to everyone!” said Libia Dennise.
