High-level sports and tourism will have a new venue of excellence in Guanajuato with the Italy Ferrari Golf Tournament 2026, which will be held for the first time outside of Mexico City, at the Ventanas Golf Club in San Miguel de Allende, on March 12 and 13.

The announcement was made by the Secretary of Tourism and Identity of Guanajuato, Maria Guadalupe Robles Leon, and the Ambassador of Italy to Mexico, Alessandro Modiano.

The Secretary Lupita Robles Leon highlighted the importance of the event as a platform that links sports tourism with the international promotion of Guanajuato.
“Sports tourism in Guanajuato is increasingly consolidating as an engine of development. This tournament combines sports, luxury, and hospitality, projecting San Miguel de Allende as a world-class destination,” said Robles.

“At the Ministry of Tourism and Identity, we firmly believe in the synergy between global brands and destinations with soul. Ferrari represents excellence, passion, and design; values that also distinguish Guanajuato and its people,” said Robles.
The official said that the event will attract high-spending national and international visitors, generating around 200 room nights and a significant economic impact for the region.

The Secretary highlighted that sports tourism in 2024 registered an estimated influx of 317,828 people and an economic impact of more than 750 million pesos.
The mayor of San Miguel de Allende, Mauricio Trejo Pureco, and Lorenzo Vianello, president of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Mexico, celebrated the arrival of the tournament as a sign that the municipality continues to position itself among the main tourist destinations in Mexico.

The Italian Ambassador to Mexico emphasized the significance of the event as a symbol of the strong relations between the two countries.
“Ferrari represents Italian excellence at its finest: design, innovation, and passion. Bringing this tournament to San Miguel de Allende strengthens the ties between Italy and Guanajuato, a region renowned for its economic and cultural dynamism,” the diplomat emphasized.

The ambassador noted that Italy and Mexico recently celebrated 150 years of diplomatic relations, with growing economic exchange and the presence of major Italian companies in the country.
The Italia Ferrari San Miguel de Allende Tournament 2026 will feature the participation of Italian, Mexican and international businesspeople, with broadcasts in Latin America through Warner Channel and Golf Channel, which will promote Guanajuato and San Miguel de Allende.
