“We are here to support you; we know this will benefit the agricultural sector”; “the agricultural sector will be a priority in this project, receiving water in a better way and the opportunity for modernization”; “There is nothing to worry about; the water used in this major project will not affect you,” were some of the expressions of the Mayors of Cortazar, Villagran, Silao and Irapuato.

The Mayors were at the information meetings of the Solis Aqueduct project with directors of the National Water Commission (CONAGUA) and the Government of the State of Guanajuato.

On behalf of the Governor of the People, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, the Secretary of Government, Jorge Daniel Jimenez Lona, received the mayors of Cortazar, Villagran, Silao and Irapuato, to show them, in detail, the projects of the Solis Aqueduct, the water technology and the sanitation of the Lerma River.

Also present was the Secretary of Water and Environment of the State of Guanajuato, Jose Lara Lona.

The main objective of these meetings is to support the analyses and studies to provide benefits and protect the right to water for families in the region and the State.

“We will continue providing information through these working groups and, above all, informing the public about the technology project and the aqueduct,” said the Secretary of Government.

“We already had some meetings, yesterday and today, with the municipalities that have to do with the Solis aqueduct; they were very enriching talks, where the operation of how the aqueduct will work was explained to them; the water that will result from the savings of the modernization of the Irrigation District,” said Ortega Mata.

“We are here to support you. We know this will benefit the countryside, giving us more water and modernizing how we work the land. It will truly be the biggest beneficiary,” said Marco Mauricio Estefania Torres, Mayor of Cortazar.

“I want to assure the farmers of Villagran, our producers, that they have nothing to worry about. We will be on your side, providing you with the necessary information. There is nothing to worry about; the water used in this major project will not affect you,” said Cinthia Guadalupe Teniente Mendoza, Mayor of Villagran.

“People in rural areas should have completely trust that the State, the Municipality, and this Federal contribution to this major project are looking out for their needs. The agricultural sector will be a priority in this project because it will receive water more efficiently and, above all, the opportunity for modernization,” said the Mayor of Silao, Janet Melanie Murillo Chavez.

“This is a win-win project. Water is guaranteed for the agricultural sector, and, depending on the technology implemented, the savings generated by this technology will be used to supply the cities,” said the Mayor of Irapuato, Lorena del Carmen Alfaro Garcia.
