Guanajuato registered an economic growth of 4.5% in the second quarter, positioning itself as the second best performing State of Mexico, according to the State Economic Traffic Light

By the second quarter of 2025, Guanajuato consolidated itself as the second State with the best economic performance in Mexico, according to the State Economic Traffic Light of the platform ‘Mexico, How are we doing?’.

Guanajuato reported a growth rate of 4.5%, above the annual target set at 4.1%, which positions it as the second most dynamic economy in the country during this period.

The Guanajuato Secretary of Economy, headed by Claudia Cristina Villasenor Aguilar, emphasizes that the State’s economic policy is geared towards achieving equitable, sustainable growth focused on the prosperity of Guanajuatense families.
To achieve these objectives, strategies are implemented that include leveraging nearshoring to attract investment, increasing the visibility of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and productive linkages, as well as improving the quality of employment through training, certification, inclusive Labor Links and the Coneecta platform.

Furthermore, the inclusive economy fosters a favorable environment for generating opportunities that reach all corners of the State and its diverse social and economic sectors.
The ‘Industrial Connection’ strategy seeks to transform every global investment in Guanajuato into an engine of growth for local businesses, generating new opportunities and strengthening the State’s production chains.

The Economic Traffic Light of Mexico, How are we doing? is made up with data from the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and the Timely Estimate of the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI).
‘Mexico, How Are We Doing?’, a collective mainly made up of economists since 2014, sets an annual growth target of 4.5% as appropriate for the national economy, in order to promote sustained development and the generation of decent jobs.

Likewise, the Quarterly Indicator of State Economic Activity (ITAEE), reveals that Guanajuato is second in accumulated growth until the first half of 2025, with 3.3%, above the national average which was 0.4%.
The primary sector grew by 25.5%, placing the State in 3rd place nationally; the secondary sector grew by 4.8%, placing the State in 4th place nationally; finally, the tertiary sector grew by 0.6%.

The People’s Government, led by Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, through theSecretary of Economy, reaffirms its commitment to this vision of development, recognizing that a solid economic environment is fundamental to improving the quality of life of all Guanajuatenses.
