The 2025 Guanajuatense Grape Harvest season concluded with great success, exceeding attendance expectations and reaffirming the State as a national benchmark in wine production and wine tourism.

Over the course of three months, more than 12,000 visitors participated in the 14 grape harvest festivals held in the municipalities of:

  • Leon, Comonfort, San Miguel de Allende, Dolores Hidalgo CIN, Silao, and San Felipe

The harvest celebrations closed generating an economic impact of more than 11.6 million pesos, representing sustained growth compared to the previous year.

“Today, we aim to strengthen wine tourism routes, professionalize services, integrate the entire value chain, strengthen infrastructure, present tourism promotion initiatives, and take another step toward creating an ecosystem for the development and promotion of wine tourism,” explained Maria Guadalupe Robles Leon, Secretary of Tourism and Identity, at the closing ceremony of the wine season.

Robles also highlighted that this growth reflects the coordinated work of producers, authorities, and tourism service providers.

“What I see today is that clearly there is an enormous progress and growth, because ultimately, all of this is about wine, and I’ve seen world-class projects on this trip. We want to continue building together this shared vision of Guanajuato as a tourist destination of excellence, because when we talk about wine, we’re talking about Guanajuato, about the land that works, the land that innovates, the land that shares its history with the world,” said Robles.

In 2025, Guanajuato consolidated its position as the nation’s fourth-largest wine producer and fifth-largest wine grape producer, with more than 1.6 million bottles per year, 130 labels, and 62 wine projects, 27 of which have established tourism offerings.

The State’s wine industry:

  • Generates more than 600 million pesos annually
  • Involves 20 sectors of the production chain
  • Has accumulated more than 450 national and international awards

Among this year’s most notable awards is:

  • The gold medal won by the 2019 San Miguel Vineyards Reserva Blend at the Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA), the only one for Mexico in the 2025 edition of the competition held in London

The Ministry of Tourism and Identity announced that new projects are already underway to strengthen the 2026 Harvest Festival, with the goal of diversifying tourism offerings, professionalizing service, and reinforcing Guanajuatense wine as a comprehensive cultural, gastronomic, and sustainable tourism experience.

Besides, Guanajuato will host two international events that will consolidate its presence on the world wine scene:

  • International Sommelier Day 2026
  • Spirits Selection by Concours Mondial de Bruxelles 2027
