On the World Food Day, the Municipal Government and the DIF (System for the Integral Development of the Family) held the First Expo-Tasting event in the Main Square of Purisima del Rincon. The event featured the participation of 9 School Eateries and Priority Eateries from the State Program for Hot Meals and Meals for Vulnerable Persons.
Attendees had the opportunity to sample the dishes prepared daily in these eateries, which aim to guarantee a healthy, balanced, and nutritious diet for Purisimense children.
The purpose of the event was to inform the public about the work being done in the food service spaces, as well as to recognize the effort of the volunteers and operational staff who, with dedication, contribute to the nutritious feeding of the municipality’s families.
Roberto Garcia Urbano, Mayor of Purisima del Rincon, said that food programs will continue to be strengthened, promoting comprehensive actions that favor the physical and emotional development of every family member.
“World Food Day reminds us that a healthy diet not only nourishes the body but also strengthens the community. There is talent and a desire to transform ingredients; our people from Purisima del Rincon surprise us and turn those ingredients into different dishes”, said Garcia Urbano.
“Special mention goes to Maria de Jesus Gomez Perez, who won 1st place in the General Public Subcategory at the 2025 State Healthy Dish Contest. We will continue working so that all families in Purisima can have different meal options and access to healthy food,” said the Mayor.
The President of the Municipal DIF Patronage, Enriqueta Martinez Lopez, noted the importance of promoting good nutrition from childhood: “Through our eateries, we seek to ensure that every member of every family receives nutritious and quality food. This Expo-Tasting allows us to show the commitment and heart behind every dish, because with this activity, they show us that it is possible to create delicious dishes, for example, using chickpeas, oats, or peas to turn them into a nutritious and delicious meal,” said Enriqueta.
Activities like this reaffirm the commitment of City Authorities to the health, nutrition, and well-being of the municipality’s families.
