The People’s Government and the Chamber of the Footwear Industry of the State of Guanajuato (CICEG) signed the alliance to launch the strategy “Guanajuato Pisando Firme,” an initiative that promotes the strengthening of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the leather-footwear sector.

Under the leadership of Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, the People’s Government reaffirms its commitment with concrete actions to support the sector by creating a strategy that generates real opportunities for entrepreneurs and quality jobs for families involved in this activity.

The head of the Ministry of Economy, Claudia Cristina Villasenor Aguilar, said that this strategy is a firm step in favor of the footwear industry, with actions that protect jobs, sustain production, and strengthen the formality of companies.
“’Guanajuato Pisando Fuerte’ is not just a start; it’s the consolidation of a strategic alliance that has demonstrated results and will continue to build a future of greater competitiveness, innovation, and pride for our State. Today, the invitation is clear: joining the ‘Buy Local, Guanajuato Pisando Firme’ campaign means supporting workers, backing our businesses, and walking together toward a stronger, fairer, and more prosperous Guanajuato,” said Villasenor.

Villasenor Aguilar and CICEG President Juan Carlos Cashat Usabiaga signed the Alliance Charter for this strategy, which establishes areas of collaboration in talent training and development, technological innovation and modernization, resource allocation with measurable objectives, promotion of business formality, market opening, and fostering sustainability.

“We’ve come from complex years that tested our resilience. The Guanajuato footwear industry has proven itself up to the task: we’ve transformed and innovated. Today, with the firm conviction to continue moving forward, we reaffirm our competitiveness. The Guanajuato Pisando Firme strategy will allow us to consolidate the prosperity of the footwear industry, generating more opportunities for MSMEs, driving innovation, and strengthening employment in Guanajuato,” said Juan Carlos Cashat Usabiaga, president of CICEG.
In its initial phase, the program will benefit 500 economic units in Leon, San Francisco del Rincon, and Purisima del Rincon, with the clear objective of strengthening the productivity and competitiveness of the footwear value chain, boosting its presence and sales in national and international markets.

These actions seek to create conditions for MSMEs in the sector to increase their competitiveness and value generation.
In addition to CICEG, the alliance includes key players such as the Chamber of the Tanning Industry (CICUR), the Association of Industrial Supplier Companies of Mexico (APIMEX), the Business Coordinating Council of Leon (CCEL), the “Tu Puedes Guanajuato” Financial Institution, the Coordinator for the Promotion of Foreign Trade (COFOCE), the State Training Institute (IECA), and commercial and development banks.

The components of the program:
- Productive reconversion
- Progressive and accompanied formalization
- Connection to value chains and institutional trade
- Professionalization of design and product improvement
- Institutional action against unfair competition
- Awareness campaigns and ethical markets
