With the purpose of providing families with a close, learning space that provides development opportunities, the Governor of the Government of the People, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, through the System for the Integral Development of the Family (DIF), delivered the second New Beginning DIF Pilares Center in the Las Cuevitas Neighborhood in San Miguel de Allende.

This place was created with the mission of strengthening community unity, promoting social participation and improving the quality of life of its 1,973 beneficiaries.

With the Governor, the inauguration was led by Juan Carlos Montesinos Carranza, President of the Advisory Council of the Guanajuato State DIF System; Jose Alfonso Borja Pimentel, General Director of the Guanajuato State DIF System; Rosario Corona Amador , Secretary of the New Beginning; and Presidents of DIF systems from several States in Mexico, who witnessed the contribution delivered by Maria del Rocio Garcia Perez, head of the National DIF System, which will be used in the DIF PILARES.

Libia Dennise said that “this contribution by the National DIF will also serve to strengthen the activities we have at these centers and to ensure that you have what you need, because this is the perfect model for what we want in Guanajuato: for people to have opportunities and premises to do so.”

Juan Carlos Montesinos noted the importance of creating conditions that strengthen the social fabric in the State’s 46 municipalities. “The goal of this center is to make the PILARES center much larger and integrate two things: the family and social and human development. With this center, we become a pioneering State, where we have eight DIF PILARES Nuevo Comienzo centers, of which we are very proud, because it not only dignifies the family, but also demonstrates that, in Guanajuato and across the nation, we can work as a team.”

Montesinos said the premises are established as the largest of the eight DIF PILARES Centers operating in Guanajuato and the only one offering workshops for people with visual impairments.
The DIF PILARES Nuevo Comienzo Centers are located in:
- Irapuato, Celaya, Salamanca, Abasolo, Acambaro, Leon, San Luis de la Paz, and San Miguel de Allende

The head of the National DIF System, Maria del Rocio Garcia Perez said that “This center seeks to promote community participation and development, strengthening the social fabric in priority areas.”
