The Secretary of Tourism and Identity (SECTURI) will close the second half of the year with a busy schedule of events and festivals, which will further consolidate Guanajuato as one of Mexico’s most attractive destinations.

Secretary María Guadalupe Robles León reported that they are working closely with municipalities and Tourism Promotion Councils, business leaders, and members of the value chain to prepare an awareness campaign in the United States to strengthen the tourism industry.

“Ninety-four percent of visitors surveyed say they feel safe in Guanajuato. This data is very important, and we want to continue spreading the word that everything is great in Guanajuato, that they can visit us and have a great time,” Robles emphasized.

The calendar of activities goes on in September with the Fiestas Patrias (National Holidays) in Dolores Hidalgo, a landmark event for the State and the Country, showcasing everything that the Mexican Independence Day festivities represent. What better way to celebrate than in Dolores Hidalgo, the birthplace of national independence.

Guanajuato will later host Latin America’s largest cultural and artistic celebration, the International Cervantino Festival, with Veracruz and the United Kingdom as guests of honor. In October, the FIC will offer an internationally renowned lineup, with shows that are practically sold out.

“With this major cultural event, we strengthen Guanajuato’s national and international image, and most importantly, we continue to share our identity, culture, and hospitality with the world,” explained Lupita Robles.

Then comes the Day of the Dead Festival will take place in November, with activities in San Miguel de Allende and Guanajuato City. The latter will feature China and San Luis Potosí as guests of honor, showcasing their traditions surrounding this celebration.

Also in November, the León International Balloon Festival will feature more than 200 hot air balloons, concerts, and family activities, with expanded accessibility thanks to Governor Libia Dennise García Muñoz Ledo’s “People’s Fridays” initiative.

Also in that same month, in Dolores Hidalgo CIN, the City holds the International King Festival, dedicated to José Alfredo Jiménez, on the anniversary of his death, is a must-see for all Mexican and foreign ranchera music lovers.

And to end the year, the Christmas festivities will take place throughout Guanajuato, where each municipality will showcase its traditions and attractions for all the people from Mexico and the world who visit us.

These events reinforce Guanajuato’s cultural identity and represent a significant economic benefit for service providers in the tourism sector.
