More than 3.5 million pesos were invested to repair the hydraulic infrastructure after 40 years without maintenance

With a State investment of more than 3 million 600 thousand pesos benefiting 180 tenants, through the Mi Plaza program, the hydraulic infrastructure of the Porfirian Morelos Market was rehabilitated.
The People’s Government, led by Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, is committed to revitalizing one of Guanajuato’s most emblematic commercial spaces, because it is an economic, historical, and cultural treasure.
The head of the Secretary of Economy, Claudia Cristina Villasenor Aguilar, said that the construction of the popular supply center, in addition to modernizing the infrastructure, will reactivate the local economy and provide better conditions for both merchants and consumers.
The project for this work was carried out by the Municipal Board of Potable Water and Sewage (JUMAPA) of Celaya. The work was executed with specialized technical criteria and was validated by the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH), which guarantees that the work was carried out in compliance with the regulations applicable to a listed building.
Regarding the floor, it is important to say that the market’s original floor was over 40 years old and was therefore discontinued at the time of the works. Therefore, the affected areas were replaced with available tiles, ensuring their functionality.
Although the original project called for 517.75 square meters of flooring, 564.38 square meters were ultimately installed, reflecting an effort to expand the benefits of the project.
The restoration of the Morelos Market responds to the urgent need to strengthen the local economy and restore historic spaces, directly impacting the well-being of hundreds of families who depend on daily sales at this premises.
