Libia recognizes UG for its academic excellence, social commitment, and drive for inclusive education

The Governor of the People, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, participated in the Welcome Ceremony of Courses and in the Presentation of the 2024-2025 Annual Report of the General Rector of the University of Guanajuato, Claudia Susana Gomez Lopez, where she expressed her recognition to this institution for its academic excellence and its social commitment.
“Welcome everyone to this new stage in your professional development, and always know that Guanajuato is very proud of its youth, because we know that the transformative force for a better society lies here,” said the State Governor.
The Governor welcomed the new generations joining the university community, which is made up of more than 48,000 students in the 2025-2026 academic year. Of these, 17,260 are enrolled in upper secondary education, 30,820 in higher education, including 25,753 in bachelor’s degrees, 5,028 in postgraduate studies, and 39 in higher technical studies.
The University of Guanajuato offers 206 academic programs from bachelor’s to doctoral degrees, with a bachelor’s enrollment rate of 98.92% of programs that have a quality level, and 75 programs belonging to the National Graduate System.
The institution ranks fourth in Mexico in patents obtained by public universities.
“I want to express this recognition to the University of Guanajuato, which over the years has produced professionals committed to their society, with a clear social vocation. Today we celebrate them and call for continued commitment: recognizing the diversity within this university community and emphasizing inclusion,” said Governor Libia Dennise.
The University Rector reported that the 2024-2025 academic year had an enrollment of more than 8,000 students, reflecting a 0.7% increase compared to the previous academic year.
“Our contribution to society and the State is dynamic, and it’s not only reflected in this figure, but also in the number of high school, undergraduate, and doctoral students who earn their academic degrees each year and receive the certificate or degree that validates their role as agents of change. For us, beyond the numbers, each admission, as well as each graduation, represents a life project fulfilled, a fact that increases a person’s transformative potential,” said Gomez Lopez.
The inclusion strategy programs of the University have opened their doors to nearly 900 young people from 29 municipalities of Guanajuato, who are experiencing marginalization and disadvantage.
The Director General of Higher, University, and Intercultural Education of the Ministry of Public Education, Carlos Ivan Moreno Arellano, recognized the University of Guanajuato for “the number of its professors in the National System of Researchers.”
