Lupita Florido Montes is a young pastry chef in Purisima del Rincon. Since she approached the “Tu Puedes Guanajuato” Financial and Support Center, her life has changed for the better, both emotionally and financially.
She said that at a very young age she became the mother of a beautiful little girl; years later, she became the mother of another girl. As a single mother, her life hasn’t been easy, as illnesses have appeared on her doorstep.
“The illness has entered our lives and hasn’t left us; but I work every day to get ahead for my daughters; they are my motivation and my happiness,” said Lupita. Her youngest daughter suffers from chronic respiratory problems, while she is plagued by illnesses that frequently create additional expenses for the family budget.
A couple of years ago, she learned baking at a New Beginning Center and started a small business making cakes, bread rolls, and pies.
She learned about the new “We Believe in You” program from the Tu Puedes Guanajuato Financial and Support Agency; she signed up for the initial entrepreneurship workshop held in her municipality. Weeks later, she was already receiving her non-reimbursable grant of seven thousand pesos.
“For me, the Entrepreneur Workshop was wonderful. They made us see the importance of believing in ourselves. Each of us has the potential to make our entrepreneurial dreams come true, and this support is the push many entrepreneurs need to get off the ground. This is a source of hope,” said Lupita
With this support, Lupita Florido was able to purchase a new semi-professional mixer, a precision scale, molds, and other baking utensils, as well as raw materials for making her cakes and biscuits.
“I’m very grateful that they trusted me. Many people believe miracles don’t exist. I believe they do. And I believe you build your own destiny with your own effort and work. The secret ingredient to success is having a positive attitude and believing in yourself. Now I’m certain that I can support my family; my dreams are coming true,” she said.
Through regional calls, the Tu Puedes Guanajuato Financial and Support Fund organizes initial entrepreneurship workshops for women and young people, preferably living in rural areas and facing some form of vulnerability. Once they complete the workshop, they are eligible to apply for the seven thousand pesos “We Believe in You” financial support program.
