SAPICA in its 93rd Edition reaffirms its leadership as the most important shoe fair in Latin America. In this edition, besides reuniting more than 28 thousand visitors and buyers of 15 countries, it will be the host of the historical Foro ACCAL, that will integrate the shoe chambers of Latin America to strengthen the collaboration and build a shared agenda for the sector.
The Edition 93 will be held August 12th to the 14th at the Poliforum Leon, under the motto “Future with Memory”, that will count with the participation of 380 exhibitors, 2,200 buyers and a total spending for 86 million pesos in the city of Leon.
SAPICA will be host of a historical event: the Forum of the Association of Shoe Chambers of Latin America (ACCAL), with the par6ticipation of entrepreneur chambers of 13 countries, as well as the international presence of Expo Riva Schuh & Garda Bags of Italy, in a joint effort to strengthen the exchange of experiences, defend the loyal competence and build a shared agenda of innovation, promotion and sustainability for the sector.
A cluster with global potential
In his message, Juan Carlos Cashat Usabiaga, president of CICEG and CANAICAL, noted the magnitude of the fashion sector in Guanajuato with more than 19,500 economic units, of which 6,000 work in shoe and leather goods, generating 150 thousand direct jobs.
“Behind each job there is a story, a family and a community that counts on our leadership to stay working, strong and moving”, said Cashat.
An event with soul, design and technology
Daniela Reyes Luna, vice president of SAPICA, noted that this edition will be deeply meaningful.
“SAPICA is not only a fair; it is the heart that moves growth, innovation and internationalization of the Mexican shoes and leather goods”, said Daniela.
SAPICA 93 includes activities like conferences, special courses, a rodeo and the SAPICA catwalk with BIOFLEX as an ally in this edition.
Lucia Herrera Lozano, general director of CICEG and CANAICAL, celebrated the 99 years of organized history of the sector and presented the awards “Best Sales Agent” and “Best Retailer”, as an appreciation to those who have been key bridges between the industry and the consumer. “This award at SAPICA celebrates an alliance that keeps generating a shared prosperity for all the sector”, said Lucia.
The Mayor of Leon, Ale Gutierrez noted that the joint efforts of entrepreneurial chambers and organisms, as well as of the media make the shoe industry of Leon grow and develop.
“The expected spending during these days will be for 6,500 million pesos reactivating the hotel and restaurant sectors besides the commercial”, said the Mayor.
Luis Andres Alvarez Aranda, Under Secretary of Employment and Job Training of the Secretary of Economy of Guanajuato representing Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo said that SAPICA not only represents the impact in the shoe-leather sector but in all the ecosystem.
During the presentation of SPICA 93, participants signed the Interinstitutional Collaboration Agreement of the Chamber of the Shoe Industry of the State of Guanajuato (CICEG), the Association of Hotels and Motels of Leon (AHML) and the National Chamber of the Restaurant and Seasoned Food Industry (CANIRAC Leon) to consolidate Leon as the epicenter of the leather and shoe industry in Mexico, through a shared vision that promotes business, fashion and lodging tourism.
