Jalpa de Canovas is studied by UNAM Leon

UNAM Leon works with Jalpa de Canovas Magic Town and Best Tourism Village in Purisima del Rincon to improve its tourist services and attractions

Works to grow and develop the Tourism Corridor of Purisima del Rincon keep going. In 2024, the Municipality of Purisima del Rincon signed a collaboration agreement with UNAM ENES Leon and they started working with topics like inclusion and sustainable development in the Magic Town and Best Tourism Village.

Now in 2025, they started with the field work in the Tourist Village in a second stage of collaboration, in which UNAM students of 6^th and 2^nd semester are participating, in different activities with tourist service providers and inhabitants of the Magic Town, works include workshops, discussion groups, community maps and surveys.

In the presentation, by the students, of results in the premises of the UNAM, they mentioned and presented topics of great importance that will come to add to the social and tourist development of the Magic Town that is being monitored by the Tourism Direction of Purisima del Rincon in topics that include sustainability, social integration and economic development.

Roberto Camargo, Director of Tourism, representing Mayor of Purisima del Rincon, Roberto Garcia Urbano, said that the work with UNAM ENES Leon adds up to the growth and strengthening of Purisima del Rincon and of the destinations in the tourist sector. Camargo said that hard work is being done on a sustainable vision, where citizens participate in a tourism destination that is inclusive and well prepared. Camargo noted the support and vision of the Mayor, since Jalpa de Canovas is an international tourism destination.

David Ayala, General Director of Tourism Development, representing the Secretary of Tourism and Identity of the State of Guanajuato noted the importance of this work done by the institution, as it detects the needs and promotes the identity of the tourism destination, noted that they will strengthen the participation of the institution and the State with the participation of the Secretary.

The work was done by a group formed by 36 students and supervised by professors Miriam Adame, Adriana Islas and Jorge Maldonado, who promote the application of sustainable practices in the tourism destination, as part of the formation of students and the use of knowledge in the tourist destinations.

The agreement by UNAM ENES Leon and Purisima del Rincon through the Direction of Tourism will allow for more work of the institution in the Municipality, to keep strengthening the destinations and the growth of the young students.

Jalpa de Canovas Magic Town is also working with the UN Tourism and the University of Lucerne in Switzerland to develop strategies for a better Tourism Village with a sustainable vision.
