With the commitment to promote micro, small and medium-sized businesses in Guanajuato, the Secretary of Economy, Claudia Cristina Villasenor Aguilar, visited the municipality of Uriangato to listen closely to merchants, understand their needs, and continue building better opportunities together for the textile and clothing sector, which employs thousands of families in the region.

With Mayor Juan Carlos Martinez Calderon, and other local and State Authorities, the Secretary toured the Plaza Proyecto de Fe and the main streets of the commercial corridor, where she confirmed the strength and deep-rooted productive vocation that has put Uriangato on the national map.

The Secretary emphasized that, under the vision of Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, public policies that put people at the center are being promoted. Through Marca Guanajuato and financing, training, and marketing strategies, better conditions are being created for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) to grow, generate employment, and consolidate.

During the tour, the renovation of Plaza Victoria was inaugurated, an iconic space for local commerce. It continues to serve as a meeting point and source of income for 45 tenants—22 women and 17 men—who strengthen the State’s economy.

This project was made possible thanks to the coordinated efforts of the State and Municipal Governments, with an investment of more than 9.9 million pesos, including more than 5.9 million pesos from the State and 4 million from the Municipal Government.

The project, carried out through the Mi Plaza program, involved the rehabilitation of more than 490 square meters with structural, service, and urban image improvements, providing a more dignified, clean, and safe premises for merchants and visitors.

The Fashion Cluster represents 7.6% of the State’s GDP, generates more than 156,000 direct jobs, and brings together more than 19,500 businesses in its production chain. In 2023, its exports exceeded $956 million, consolidating it as an economic pillar for thousands of Guanajuatense families.

The visit of the Secretary of Economy reaffirms the State Government’s commitment to closeness, dialogue, and joint action. Working in coordination with the municipalities is key to building a more prosperous Guanajuato, with more opportunities for those who undertake, produce, and generate employment every day.
