The Governor of the People, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, when presiding over the first ordinary session of the Intersecretarial Commission for the Prevention of Violence and Crime said that “today we are taking a very important step that has to do with the construction of peace in Guanajuato.”
Libia said that “everyone from their position can do their part to make Guanajuato safer.” And in this task, the participation of society is important, joining in prevention.
The Governor noted that the methodological approach that will lead to the State Program for the Social Prevention of Violence and Crime was presented at this session.
Libia said that through education, culture and sports, actions should be promoted to keep children and youth away from criminal problems.
The Inter-Secretarial Commission coordinates the work of different departments of the People’s Government to design and implement strategies for social prevention of violence and crime. Its main objective is to integrate the work of various areas of government to address these problems at their root and improve the quality of life of the population.
“Let’s do a great multidisciplinary and transversal work, to strengthen prevention,” said the Governor.
Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo chaired the session to reinstate the Social Assistance System Commission and swore in its members.
The main function of the Commission is to ensure that people in vulnerable situations receive quality assistance, with a focus on human rights, gender perspective and comprehensive support for families.
This commission is made up of representatives from various government agencies and civil society organizations, four representatives of municipal DIFs and three from private social assistance institutions.
The Commission has two major responsibilities:
- Provide opinions and recommendations to improve social assistance and family strengthening services in Guanajuato
- Establish mandatory lines of action for all members of the State System of Social Assistance and Family Strengthening, ensuring that support is provided in a coordinated and efficient manner
