“The will is to work for Guanajuato and for Mexico, that is what drives us,” said the Governor of Guanajuato, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, while participating in the National Municipal Meeting in Mexico City.
The meeting was chaired by the President of the Republic, and was attended by Governors from the 32 states and representatives from the 2,446 municipalities.
“It is always good news to know that we have mayors who understand that it is through joint work that we will strengthen our municipalities,” said Libia Dennise.
Among the topics discussed were security, budget and financing, economic development, infrastructure and public services, as well as education and health.
Regarding infrastructure, the Governor of Guanajuato reported that the good news is that 10 percent of the Social Infrastructure Contribution Fund -FAIS- will be allocated directly to indigenous peoples.
The recently updated Legal Reform of the FAIS indicates that it will be the communities who determine where the resources will be allocated. In Guanajuato there are more than 90 native communities and just over 70 thousand people identified as indigenous population, reported the Governor of Guanajuato.
“This is good news to boost the development of our indigenous communities,” said the Governor.
Municipalities were also urged to focus the Fund on water infrastructure projects, “which would mean, for some municipalities, strengthening the distribution lines that provide water to the population,” said Libia.
The Governor explained that the proposal of the Fund for municipal water projects is unrelated to the project that is already being developed in coordination with the National Water Commission (Conagua) on the construction of the aqueduct from the Solís Dam.
The President of the Republic also shared information about the Project to Address Crime Causes that will be operated by the Ministry of the Interior. This project will be carried out through service fairs in neighborhoods with a high incidence of crime in Mexico.
“We have expressed this on our part, we know that collaboration and joint work are required. We are here to join in the coordinated work,” said the Governor.
During this visit to Mexico City, the Governor of Guanajuato also met with federal officials in order to collaborate for the well-being and work to build the peace of the people of Guanajuato.
