Authorities call on Guanajuatenses to keep watch and avoid leaving water in containers that help keep dengue mosquitoes around

Guanajuato/Gto News

The Secretary of Health of Guanajuato reported a decrease in active cases of dengue.

Gabriel Cortes Alcale, Secretary of Health, announced that the trend of active cases is downward, but he warned that we must keep watch in the 46 municipalities.

To date there are 152 active cases of dengue, of which Silao continues to have the highest incidence of cases with a total of 60.

Gabriel Cortes said that this week the Cemeteries Operation was reinforced among the 46 municipalities with actions prior to the Day of the Dead.

These actions were established by the State Committee for Epidemiological Surveillance, known as CEVE, a collegiate body that is responsible for applying and verifying epidemiological surveillance actions in a State.

In Guanajuato, CEVE is responsible for dealing with strategies to prevent diseases such as dengue and influenza.

The Larval Control staff in the 46 municipalities thoroughly inspects that there are no spaces with stagnant water or accumulation of junk following the strategy of “Wash, cover, turn over and throw away”, this prevents the mosquito from reproducing.

The Entomology team then arrives to verify the work done, inspecting in detail again, followed finally by the Thermal Fogging staff.

Given the increase in the number of flower vases on the tombs of the Municipal Cemeteries during the visits on November 2, the State Secretary of Health calls on the population to make sure they don’t leave containers with water in the cemeteries avoiding the spread of the mosquito that transmits dengue.
