Guanajuato welcomes the world with the International Balloon Festival; “for four days, some 400 thousand attendees are expected to live an unforgettable experience”, said the Governor of Guanajuato, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo
Libia was at the Press Conference held in Mexico City to present the 2024 edition of the International Balloon Festival, which was also attended by the Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico, Josefina Rodriguez Zamora.
The State Governor highlighted the participation of 200 hot air balloons from 25 countries, making this a must-see festival in global hot air ballooning.
From now on, the Governor emphasized, we give the warmest welcome to our visitors from all over Mexico, and from countries such as:
- Germany, Brazil, Turkey, the United States, France, Spain, the Netherlands and Kenya, among other
Libia Dennise said, “Enjoy our wonderful state of Guanajuato, as you can visit our two World Heritage Cities, such as Guanajuato City and San Miguel de Allende. As well as the 6 Magic Towns:
- Dolores Hidalgo, Cradle of National Independence; Mineral de Pozos; Jalpa de Canovas, Salvatierra, Yuriria and Comonfort”

The Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico, Josefina Rodriguez Zamora, said that the FIG, in addition to being one of the three most important ballooning events internationally, has established itself as a major tourist attraction for the Bajio region of Mexico, since for four days it brings together thousands of visitors, both national and foreign.
Rodriguez Zamora highlighted that this year it is estimated that there will be an attendance of 400 thousand people and an economic impact of 800 million pesos.
The Mayor of Leon, Alejandra Gutierrez Campos, participated in the press conference, which was broadcast on the program “Conectando con la Gente” (Connecting with the People). She also welcomed the visitors who will be at the Festival of Festivals; “We welcome you with open arms, you will enjoy four magical days.”
The Governor highlighted that some of the new features of the 2024 edition, which will be held from November 15 to 18 at the Metropolitan Park of Leon, are the star-studded concerts by J Balvin, Marshmello, Armin van Buuren and Julion Alvarez.
There will also be the “Star Dance”, an innovative drone show that will draw figures in the sky to the rhythm of the music, and a Zeppelin Show, which will complement the already famous “Magical Nights”, where hot air balloons light up to the beat of the music.
More than 200 balloons from 25 countries are taking part, including Germany, Brazil, Turkey, the United States, France and Switzerland. This year, 10 special figures will be flying for the first time at the festival.
Among the most anticipated figures are:
- “Escapology”, based on the Robbie Williams album
- “Captain Caveman” from Brazil
- “Swiss Cow Blüemli” from Switzerland
The camping area returns with three modalities:
- Rayo Camp, Electro Camp and Mexa Camp, each aligned with the concerts of the day
An alternative stage has been established with local and national artists, as well as an extensive gastronomic area with dishes for all tastes.
