Thousands of souls vibrate with the Guelaguetza

The Esplanade of the Alhondiga de Granaditas was the setting for the inauguration ceremony of the Cervantino, with a spectacular display of the Guelaguetza, the most important festival in Oaxaca, which symbolizes exchange and generosity among indigenous peoples.

The Guelaguetza, a celebration of Zapotec origin that brings together different indigenous communities to share their music, dance and agricultural products, is an emblematic example of the cultural wealth of Oaxaca.

Iconic dances such as the Sones and Jarabes Mixtecos, the Feather Dance of the Central Valleys and the festive participation of the Tiliches of Putla, with their striking costumes and playful movements, amazed the present.
