The main access to Guanajuato is modernized

SICOM presents the comprehensive urban image project for the Santa Fe junction. The construction of a road intersection and improvement of urban image totals an investment for 269.7 million pesos

The Secretary of Infrastructure, Connectivity and Mobility -SICOM-, delivered the work of the comprehensive urban image project of the Glorieta Santa Fe, in Guanajuato City, a site where a time capsule was also placed by the Secretary of Government, with documents that refer to the 200 years of Guanajuato as a Free and Sovereign State.

Tarcisio Rodriguez Martinez, head of SICOM, noted that, during the current state administration, a trilogy of infrastructure actions was carried out that gave beauty and functionality to the main access to the city; Rodriguez Martinez said that in 2019 the works that made up the first stage of the modernization of the Road Distributor were delivered, in October 2021 the second stage was delivered and the trilogy is completed by the comprehensive urban image project of the Santa Fe Roundabout.

Rodriguez Martinez presented the technical details of the work that renewed the urban image of the Glorieta Santa Fe, not without first mentioning that 269.7 million pesos were invested in the actions described above.

The Secretary of Infrastructure, Connectivity and Mobility pointed out that an investment of 37.8 million pesos was channeled to carry out this work, resources that served to improve the urban image of the main access to the city of Guanajuato.

The State Official indicated that earthworks and floors were built in plazas and walkways, ornamental walls around the sculpture of Santa Fe, and the bases where two steel flagpoles were placed with a height of 21 meters from the floor to the top.

Rodríguez said that street equipment, a dry gushing fountain and an irrigation system were also installed, both including a cistern to provide water; in the same way, all the green areas were renovated, public lighting and stage lighting with an RGB system were installed to highlight the fountain, monument, walls, flagpoles and garden areas.

Rodriguez Martinez pointed out that the base on which the Santa Fe statue was placed also includes the place where the Coat of Arms of the State of Guanajuato was set up, which has dimensions of 1.50 x 2.20 meters and weighs 280 kilograms, as well as the space in which the time capsule was deposited, commemorating the 200 Years of Guanajuato as a Free and Sovereign State.

The Secretary of Government, J. Jesús Oviedo Herrera, noted that those present at the event have witnessed a historic event, by depositing in a time capsule elements that will be made public in 50 years.

Students from the Rafael Ramirez elementary school in the Puentecillas community were present at the ceremony. Oviedo invited them to remember the historic moment they experienced and to return, if possible, in 50 years to witness another very important event in their lives and in the history of Guanajuato.
