The program of activities for the 50th anniversary of SAPICA is presented
The Governor of Guanajuato confirms all his support for the footwear industry

“SAPICA will become a great node of Mindfacture, and with it the footwear industry will continue to strengthen for the benefit of the economic and social development of Guanajuato”, said Governor of Guanajuato, Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo.
The Governor was in the presentation of the program of activities for the 50th anniversary of SAPICA that will be held from March 5 to 7.
The Governor insisted that the leather and footwear industry is a pillar of Guanajuato’s economy, and said that that is why it is important to continue supporting this sector, which is made up of women and men with a vision for the future.
SAPICA is a great example to understand the character and work mystique of the people of Guanajuato, noted the Governor, who added that this event is the maximum showcase of the Mexican leather and footwear industry.
Rodriguez Vallejo said that the 90th edition of SAPICA, besides celebrating its 50 years, should be a recognition of all those who are part of this important industry.
The Governor recognized the President of CICEG, Mauricio Blas Battaglia Velázquez; for his work in continuing to strengthen the footwear industry.
SAPICA started with 130 exhibitors and today, five decades later, it is estimated that more than 2 thousand footwear and leather goods brands will participate.
Throughout Mexico, this industry produces 195 million pairs per year. And 70 percent of this production is made in Guanajuato.
Today, 111 thousand men and women work on the enormous range of leather products.
This makes the Guanajuato footwear industry one of the economic engines of our state, the Governor highlighted.
“Celebrating 50 years of the Leather and Footwear Show -SAPICA- is a great triumph for our industry. SAPICA has been instrumental in the development and growth of the sector,” said the President of CICEG, Mauricio Blas Battaglia.
The Mexican footwear and leather goods industry in 2023:
- Production of 209 million pairs
- 30 million pairs exported
- 120 million pairs imported
