The Government of the State of Guanajuato, through the Cultural Forum, presents the Opera Gala: “200 years of Greatness”, a great concert that celebrates the Bicentennial of Guanajuato as Free and Sovereign State of Mexico.
This extraordinary event will be presented on December 20, 2023 at 5 pm in the majestic Roberto Plasencia Saldana Bicentennial Theater of the Guanajuato Cultural Forum.
The Opera Gala will feature the stellar participation of the renowned Mexican tenor of international prestige, Ramon Vargas, and the outstanding Mexican soprano, Leticia de Altamirano, who will perform the most sublime moments of the lyrical and dramatic repertoire, presenting unforgettable works such as “Tosca” by Puccini , “The Troubadour” by Giuseppe Verdi, “Carmen” by Georges Bizet, “Romeo et Juliette” by Gounod, among other musical gems.
The Gala will also feature the participation of the Bicentennial Theater Choir, and outstanding musicians under the direction of the renowned Guanajuatense Maestro Ivan Lopez Reynoso.
The Program:
- The Gala will include works by composers such as: Giuseppe Verdi, Charles Gounod, Gaetano Donizetti, Georges Bizet and Giacomo Puccini.
- Among the outstanding pieces are arias from operas such as: “Tosca”, “El Trovador”, “Carmen”, “Romeo et Juliette” and “La boheme”, masterfully performed by Ramon Vargas and Leticia de Altamirano.
The Performers:
Ivan Lopez Reynoso – Conductor considered one of the most important young conductors in Mexico, has conducted prestigious orchestras around the world, from the Philharmonia Zürich to the Royal Opera House Muscat.
Ramon Vargas – Tenor Recognized as one of the most outstanding tenors of our time, has captivated audiences in the world’s leading opera houses. His versatility is reflected in more than 220 performances at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, La Scala in Milan, the Teatro Real in Madrid and many others.
Leticia de Altamirano – Soprano, one of Mexico’s most notable sopranos, has shone in leading roles in operas such as La Traviata, Rigoletto, Carmen and more. Named “Voice of the Bicentennial” by CONACULTA in 2010, she has made successful tours in France and received the award for “Best lyrical show of the year.”
The Opera Gala: 200 Years of Greatness will be broadcast live on TV4, a broadcast that will begin at 5 pm on channel 4.1.
