Guanajuato reached 27.6 billion dollars as of September 2023 in exports, which represents an increase of 6.9 percent compared to the same period from last year.

In 2022 Guanajuato recorded its historical maximum by closing with 32 billion dollars in exports and with which it took the 5th position as an exporting State in Mexico.

“Guanajuato once again consolidates itself as one of the main national non-border exporters, maintaining that same position we have maintained this 5th position in exports at the national level, which this year we obtained; and also regarding the exporting municipalities, we maintain 78 percent of the municipalities of Guanajuato, currently exporting,” said Luis Rojas, General Director of COFOCE.

MSMEs represent the majority of the companies in the export register. Guanajuato is distinguished by a large number of exporting MSMEs with 1,841 exporting companies on the register, with a goal set in reaching 2,000 exporting companies.

The behavior of the different sectors individually has been constantly growing, for the most part maintaining double-digit growth in almost all sectors, despite the exchange rate.

Growth until September 2023:

  • In Auto Parts it registers 20.9 per cent
  • Vegetables 14.3 percent
  • Metal mechanics 33.5 percent
  • Footwear 26.4 percent
  • Personal care cosmetics 32.3 percent
  • Furniture and crafts registers 75.8 percent
  • Clothing 21.4 percent

“As for the companies that are selling to the world through their own channels, distribution centers, their own digital networks, we are talking about 87 percent of the goal we set for this six-year period is equivalent to 700 companies,” said Luis Rojas, General Director of COFOCE.

The main destinations of exports is:

  • The United States of America with 83 percent
  • Canada with 7.52
  • Colombia, Germany, China, Puerto Rico, Guatemala, Japan, Brazil and Chile with lesser percentage

Achievements in 2023:

  • COFOCE participated in more than 40 trade missions and international events
  • More than 30 companies participated from all sectors
  • More than 200 international buyers were served
  • More than 500 effective links with Guanajuato companies, which will be reflected in more exports in 2024

In terms of competitiveness:

  • More than 350 companies assisted
  • 26 companies financially supported
  • Impacting 22 municipalities in Guanajuato

In Digital Market:

  • More than 200 companies served and benefited
  • More than 20 municipalities impacted
  • Reported sales of more than 6 million Dollars
