The Governor of Guanajuato, Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo, and the President of the State DIF, Adriana Ramirez Lozano, participated on Friday morning in the traditional celebrations for the Day of Flowers and Friday of Dolores, giving flowers to the Guanajuatenses in the historic center of the State Capital.

The Governor and Adriana Ramirez offered ice cream to the people in the Palace of Powers, where the Legal and Expanded Cabinet also participated, as well as the Mayor of Guanajuato City, and representatives of the Legislative and State Court.

“We are very happy to participate in this tradition, it is a joy to spend time with Guanajuatenses in these festivities,” said the Governor.

As part of the tradition, the altars are placed in honor of the Virgen de Dolores, which are set up from Thursday night and early Friday hours. Flower vendors put up stands in the Jardin de La Union late Thursday.

Baskets with Easter eggs and figures made from egg shells and colored paper are sold; band music enlivens the party; and businesses and institutions offer water, snow or breakfast. The water or snow that is given symbolizes the tears of Virgin Mary.
