The Health System Gto commemorated International Sepsis Day with practical training at the General Hospital of Leon and the participation of 200 doctors from different States of Mexico.
Karen Ortega, a doctor specializing in Intensive Care Medicine at the General Hospital of Leon, reported that in this commemoration a knowledge contest is held for residents of core specialties such as:
- Emergencies, Internal Medicine, General Surgery, Gynecology and Anesthesiology, Intensive Care
In addition, the also medical professor, highlighted that participating were:
- 200 doctors
- From Tamaulipas, Reynosa, Durango, San Luis Potosi, State of Mexico and Guanajuato
Ortega added that sepsis worldwide is one of the diseases that kills more people, so it is necessary to update skills of medical staff to provide better care.
“Sepsis is an infection that reaches the body in a regulated way, the body’s defenses cannot withstand this attack and causes the organs to begin to fail until it leads to death,” explained Ortega.
The specialist added that the infection is so bad that it affects the entire body and can be suffered by anyone whose defenses are low, people with diabetes, children, obesity, or simply due to poorly treated infectious hygiene.
