With the theme “The literary destiny of the Conquest of Mexico”, the Don Quixote Iconographic Museum, the Cervantina Foundation of Mexico AC and the Government of the State of Guanajuato inaugurated the International Cervantino Colloquium (CCI) in its thirty-first edition at the General Auditorium of the University of Guanajuato, with a three-day program made up of 11 conferences and 3 artistic events that seek to discuss the history of Mexico and miscegenation as a cultural encounter that marked universal literature from the 16th century to the present day.

With the presence and collaboration of the State Institute of Culture, the University of Guanajuato and the Oviedo Institute through the Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz Cultural Center with a program that traveled from Cortes as a figure of the conqueror and romantic hero in 19th-century French literature to the study of the screens of the Conquest, a presentation on New Spain decorative arts.

At 7:00 p.m., as part of the X Cervantine Art Days within the CCI program, the visual arts exhibition “El Encuentro” was inaugurated, a collection of the Oviedo Institute and MiM Universidad De La Salle Bajío, at the Quijote Iconographic Museum.

The exhibition of more than 20 pieces including paintings, sculptures and bibliographic documents, presents an analysis of the historical context of the Conquest of Mexico, centered on the meeting between Hernán Cortés and Moctezuma, to provide different angles.
