The Governor of the State, Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo, led the commemorative parade of the 212th Anniversary of the Taking of the Alhóndiga de Granaditas and the Renewal of the Symbolic Fire of Independence.
“It is a pride to participate in this ceremony where Guanajuatenses renew our vocation for freedom. 212 years ago, a historic event took place here that represented the decisive impulse of the struggle for independence, which began in Dolores Hidalgo”, said the Governor of Guanajuato.
Rodriguez Vallejo said that heroic actions like the one carried out by Juan José de los Reyes Martínez Amaro, el Pípila, nurture the identity of Mexicans as a people that strives to achieve their ideals.
“Today we received that symbolic fire, from the contingent of the Cavalcade along the Route of Independence. It is the culmination of an activity carried out by the Guanajuato society, with which the route made by the troops under the command of Hidalgo is remembered, from Dolores to this place”, said the Governor.
The best way to honor the memory of those who gave us a country and freedom is by giving life to their ideals and working to make them part of our reality as a nation, he added.
“Let everyone see that the flame of work burns here, as the basis for greater progress and development. That the flame of entrepreneurship and innovation burns here, as the path that will lead us to conquer the opportunities of the future”, said Rodriguez Vallejo.
“In Guanajuato, where Mexico was born, the commitment to spearhead the great struggles so that Mexico fulfills its vocation and destiny of greatness is still alive and well”, the Governor pointed out.
Thousands enjoy the parade in Guanajuato City
With a positive balance, the Commemorative Civic-Military Parade for the 212th Anniversary of the Taking of the Alhóndiga de Granaditas concluded. Civil society institutions and staff of the three levels of government in Guanajuato participated in this parade.
The Parade was presided over from the balconies of the old Stadium Congress building by the Governor of Guanajuato.
Prior to the start of the Parade, a protocol ceremony of Honors to the Flag was held in the Ambassadors’ garden, from where the various contingents departed until they passed in front of the Presidium in the old State Congress building, concluding in the Alhondiga de Granaditas.
The parade began at 1:15 p.m. and ended at 4:40 p.m., and then continued with the solemn ceremony of the Renewal of the Symbolic Fire in the Alhondiga de Granaditas.
An operational deployment of the FSPE was supported at all times by the Arcangeles Group, made up of helicopters with state-of-the-art technology to strengthen air-ground operations.
