In a historic event for Guanajuato and that will leave its mark on the promotion of space activities in Mexico, the five young Guanajuatenses who will spend a research stay at NASA were presented by JuventudEsGTO and the Mexican Space Agency.
Both institutions signed the agreement to endorse the collaboration of both and thereby continue with more projects of this type for future generations of young people.
“For Guanajuato it has always been a priority to encourage its youth, that is why this collaboration is very important, because with it we offer our young people opportunities to continue growing in the field of knowledge”, said Araceli Reyes, general director of JuventudEsGTO.
Elizabeth Salas from Romita; Diego Jiménez from Leon; Cristian Chacon from Moroleon; Flavio Nieto from Celaya and Brandon Ramirez from Irapuato, are the young Guanajuatenses who participated and won in the call launched by JuventudEsGTO in February of this year and will now live this experience at NASA for 16 weeks.
“It is an example of the commitment of our institutions to the development and training of our young people, preparing them to face the challenges of the future with world-class knowledge and experiences,” said Carlos Duarte, general coordinator of human capital training in the space sector.
The young people will go to three space centers: Goddard Maryland, New York and Ames California, to participate in projects for spacecraft engineering, development of robotic technology in extreme climates, water recycling systems for space flights and colonizing the solar system, and advanced studies in climate science.
“You are fulfilling your dreams, never give up, work hard, very hard, and what you aspire you will achieve, I am totally convinced,” said the General Director of the AEM, Salvador Landeros Ayala.
The Government of the State of Guanajuato, through JuventudEsGTO, granted a 100% scholarship to the five young people to make stays at NASA possible, with the AEM being a linking bridge to carry out the program.
“When the JuventudEsGTO call came out I was able to see the list of projects that were offered, I saw one that was specific to water treatment and I was able to realize that that really matched my profile,” said Elizabeth del Rosario Salas, a young beneficiary.
This historic event represents the unwavering commitment of the Government of the State of Guanajuato, through JuventudEsGTO, to the promotion of talent and innovation in youth.
