‘You have a government committed to merchants’

At the León Fair, more than 800 Guanajuato merchants exhibit in the People’s Pavilion

The Governor announced the launch of the MarcaGTO 2.0, in celebration of the first 10 years

Being constant and leaving the pressure of age behind, were the advice given by Josefina and Oscar, merchants exhibiting at the People’s Pavilion to the Governor of Guanajuato, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo.

As the 449th anniversary of the founding of Leon is celebrated, the State Governor visited the Fair and spoke to Josefina and Oscar. The entrepreneurs with the ‘Marca GTO’ distinction participated in the weekly program ‘Connecting with the People’.

“Today there could not be a better place to celebrate Leon than here, in the People’s Pavilion, which is a place where the producers of the MarcaGTO (GTO Brand) are united; this fills us with pride and is a reason to recognize all the talent, the pride of our State,” said the Governor.

Libia discussed the path of artisans towards professionalization. They spoke of the successes and setbacks that led them to overcome borders with their products.

For Josefina, obtaining the ‘MarcaGTO’ distinction was a requirement to maintain quality, the commitment to innovate and prioritize customer demands, without losing the culture and identity as a Guanajuato artisan. Tierra Luna is the brand that Josefina founded in 2016, specializing in handmade jewelry, made of turquoise, marble and wood.

As for the Oscar brand, it offers ice cream, popsicles and natural fruit waters, free of preservatives and with a low percentage of sugar. As a holder of the ‘GTO Brand’, Oscar recently began distributing its products in Oxxo stores in the south and center of Leon.

“You have a government that is with you, that will encourage you to move forward and of course will put in place everything that will help you grow and have a better business, which will allow you to generate income,” said the Governor as she reaffirmed her commitment to the merchants.

Libia reported that the Secretary of Economy is already preparing to celebrate the first 10 years of ‘Marca GTO’, with the launch of the version 2.0 of the Guanajuato brand. The update to the methodology is intended to support entrepreneurs in coping with technology and thus promote the export of their products.

There are more than 800 exhibitors from Guanajuato in the People’s Pavilion, divided in the upper part of Poliforum and Explora.

Artisans from 14 municipalities participate they are:

• San Luis de la Paz, Romita, Guanajuato City, San Diego de la Union, Comonfort, Salamanca, Abasolo, Coroneo, Leon, Celaya, Acambaro, Dolores Hidalgo, Silao and Irapuato

“I want to invite you to come, to buy products made in Guanajuato and to promote what is ours. You will take with you our identity and our traditions,” emphasized the Governor.
