The head of INGUDIS Jose Grimaldo Colmenero met with people who will be responsible for direct attention to the attending public in the different stages and activities of the Cervantino International Festival.
INGUDIS staff wants to provide Cervantino staff with information and raising awareness about the appropriate and inclusive treatment of people who have some condition of visual, hearing, motor or intellectual disability.
“Members of the organizing committee received this training offered by the Guanajuato Institute for Persons with Disabilities; it is about having the possibility of providing attention, for example, to a deaf person inside a venue where a FIC event is being held, from the moment a wheelchair user also arrives, as they need guidance of the place they can occupy.
The head of INGUDIS added that this state agency helps, as every year, with the FIC authorities so that, in the different activities, recommendations that have to do precisely with inclusive care are observed.
Participants talked about the basic knowledge of disability, its definition, “it is important that you reflect on what this word means to you and if in your life you have had any experience of living with this condition so that now you bring it to these scenarios and you become aware of the guidance they require”, said Grimaldo.
Disability has to do with an interaction between the characteristics of the human organism and the characteristics of the society in which it lives.
At the Cervantino International Festival –FIC-, a space for cultural and artistic expression, attention to people with disabilities is a priority in order to achieve their full participation in society, which includes (as stated in article 30 of the Convention on rights of people with this condition), guaranteed access to culture and recreation.
