Guanajuato ranks 7th in Mexico in employment in restaurants and lodging services
63% of people employed in tourism are women, driving inclusive growth in Guanajuato

According to data from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography -INEGI-, 63% of people employed in the State tourism sector are women, highlighting their role in a sector that represents 7% of total jobs in Guanajuato and 4% of Mexico.
In the Government of the People, the Secretary of Tourism and Identity reaffirms its commitment to the tourism value chain of this important sector that places Guanajuato in seventh place nationally in employment related to this activity, an indicator that highlights the importance of the State as a key destination for tourism and job creation.
In the second quarter of 2024, 190,931 people were employed in restaurants and accommodation services in Guanajuato, a 01% growth compared to the previous year. This sector contributes substantially to employment, being responsible for 1 in every 15 jobs in Guanajuato.
The metropolitan area that includes Leon, Purisima del Rincon and San Francisco del Rincon, registered 63,732 people employed in this sector, consolidating the economic importance of this region in the tourism industry.
Officials said that the Government of the People will strengthen public policies that integrate communities and prioritize gender equality, promoting inclusive and sustainable tourism as an engine of economic and social progress for all Guanajuatenses.
