In the weekly broadcast of Connecting with the People, the Governor of the State, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, highlighted the comprehensive strategy that positions Guanajuato as a national benchmark in the ethical implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI), as well as in the training of young people, women, senior citizens and public servants.

The State Governor emphasized that technology is here to stay, so the challenge is not to stop it, but to take advantage of it responsibly and with a social vision.

“Technology is the foundation, but the person is at the center. If it is not accessible to everyone, then it is still lacking,” said Governor Libia Dennise.

The program addressed the “CercanIA” strategy, promoted by the Institute of Innovation, Science, and Entrepreneurship for Competitiveness (IDEA Guanajuato), which combines a commitment to a people-centered Government with the responsible use of artificial intelligence. Its director general, Juan Antonio Reus Montano, explained that the goal is for technology to generate value based on ethical principles shared by society.

“Before thinking about how to take advantage of technology, we must ensure that we respect shared values as a society, so that in the long term we all continue to do well,” said Reus Montano, who noted that Guanajuato is the first State in Mexico to adopt UNESCO’s roadmap on ethics in artificial intelligence, and is also one of the four subnational governments recognized worldwide for this effort.

As part of this public policy, more than 11,000 public servants have been trained in artificial intelligence, making Guanajuato the State with the largest number of officials trained in this area. Furthermore, through the partnership with Microsoft, the goal is to benefit 100,000 people, of whom more than 20,000 have already received specialized training.

The Governor emphasized that artificial intelligence should also be used to make people’s lives easier and modernize public services.

“Let’s not make citizens bear the burden of the process when the government itself can resolve it with systems that communicate with each other,” said the Governor.

In this same space, the entrepreneur and technology promoter, Karla Maria Martinez Lemus, acknowledged that the State strategy addresses AI from a 360-degree perspective, integrating technical training, ethical support and practical application.

“If we make everyday activities easier with the support of technology, we will free up hours for what really matters: our families,” said Karla Maria.

The young voice was represented by Britania Miranda Aguilera, a student of the Technological Baccalaureate of the CECyTE Doctor Mora campus, who presented the prototype “Hidrovida”, an application developed with artificial intelligence to monitor domestic water consumption and prevent leaks.

“It can be used for studies, to create businesses and develop projects that help the community,” shared the student, who is part of the projects promoted through innovation and entrepreneurship agreements.

Progress in employment and the economy

Starting her program, the Governor shared that the National Survey of Occupation and Employment (ENOE) by INEGI, corresponding to the last quarter of last year, yields encouraging results for Guanajuato, particularly in the advancement of women in labor.

She highlighted that more than 24,000 women joined the social services sector, placing the State first in annual growth in this area; in addition, more than 4,200 women joined the construction sector and more than 16,600 joined the professional and financial services sector.

“This speaks to an economy that is moving forward steadily and to the progress and growth of women in Guanajuato, which fills us with pride, because the People’s Government is a government that is an ally of women,” said the Governor.
