Wasion consolidates its leadership not only in Mexico but also in North America

The company Wasion, specializing in electric meters, invested $4.5 million in the expansion of its production plant in Silao. With this new investment, the Chinese company has invested $34.5 million and is creating 950 jobs.
Wasion has produced 8 million meters, making it the main supplier to the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) in Mexico.
On the occasion, the company celebrated the inauguration of its new facilities, located in the Guanajuato Puerto Interior logistics and industrial platform.
Hector Lopez Santillana, general director of Guanajuato Puerto Interior, representing the Governor of Guanajuato, Libia Denisse Garcia Munoz Ledo, said in his welcome message that this investment is a sign of the trust that global companies have in Guanajuato.
“Today we enthusiastically celebrate the expansion of this plant specializing in smart electricity meters, an investment that confirms Wasion’s trust in Guanajuato and Mexico, and symbolizes a firm commitment to joint development, innovation, and long-term growth,” said Santillana.
“The decision to expand into this logistics-industrial platform is not only strategic: it’s a demonstration of vision. Here, you’ll find not only world-class infrastructure, but also an ecosystem committed to excellence, sustainability, and collaboration,” said Lopez Santillana.
Mayor of Silao, Melanie Murillo, emphasized that investments like this consolidate the municipality as a leader in attracting capital. She stressed that the State’s infrastructure, security environment, and human talent are factors that make Guanajuato an attractive investment option.
Wasion Mexico’s CEO, Lenin Velasquez, noted that the inauguration of this expansion represents not only physical and material growth, but also a reaffirmation of the company’s trust in Guanajuato and Mexico. He said that, with this expansion, “Wasion will position itself as the leading provider of smart solutions not only in Mexico but throughout North America, in both the electrical and hydraulic sectors, and soon, in communications,” said Velasquez.
The expansion of its production plant will bring significant benefits to Mexican industry: it will boost domestic manufacturing of smart metering devices, strengthen the electricity sector’s supply chain, reduce technological dependence on foreign sources, encourage innovation in the Bajio region, and generate skilled jobs for Guanajuatenses.
