The Virtual University of the State of Guanajuato -UVEG- has officially launched its new Diploma in Agrotechnology, an innovative education offer aimed at the agro-food sector, in an event held in the Irrigation District 011, with the participation of leaders of the sector.
“I congratulate the Virtual University of the State of Guanajuato, for its intention to bring education to the most remote parts of Guanajuato and more than that, as producers who have influence in 18 municipalities, we need to learn from this project. We do not have the excuse of saying that we cannot learn”, said Agustín Robles Montenegro President of Irrigation District 011.
UVEG innovates by offering this diploma that has 7 modules; of 120 teaching hours:
- Module 1. Introduction to Agrotechnology
- Module 2. Fundamentals of soil science and plant nutrition
- Module 3. Pest and disease control
- Module 4. Agricultural production systems (crop science)
- Module 5. Precision agriculture
- Module 6. Sustainable agriculture and eco efficiency
- Module 7. Administration of agro-food companies
“I recognize the Governor of Guanajuato Diego Sinhue Rodríguez Vallejo when he told me, get involved in this issue (Agriculture), Mindfacture, electromobility, those courses are coming, since they are necessary in these times”, said Rector of UVEG, Ricardo Narvaez Martinez.
“You must know what you want a person to specialize in and what subjects they have to learn, besides the skills. This will also bring a blockchain, which is a programmatic code that no one is going to change or alter, and tomorrow when person who has a microcredential, arrives in Japan, is asked what their abilities are, they will take out their cell phone and show what they know, everything is coded there”, said the Rector.
In collaboration with the Tecnologico de Monterrey and CIMMYT, UVEG offers this new highly innovative program that will provide those passionate about agriculture with a great competitive advantage and a paradigm shift that will have a global impact.
During the Launch of the Diploma in Agrotechnology, the Agreement was signed by UVEG and Fundación Guanajuato Produce AC to promote formal programs, continuing education and extension services.
“The Foundation has always distinguished itself by being at the forefront of the entire agricultural sector. It is an honor that the Virtual University includes us to be the link with farmers. Fewer and fewer young people want to specialize in agriculture and the fact that this diploma motivates them to like it is very important,” said Engineer Marisol Suarez Correa, President of the Guanajuato Produce AC Foundation.
